Batman v Superman star Ben Affleck takes a fan for a spin in the Batmobile

Before Batman and Superman face off on the big screen, Ben Affleck, who plays the new Dark Knight, wants to make sure fans will be cheering for him. The 43-year-old actor showed up at the Warner Bros. studio tour to surprise fans and take the Batmobile for a ride.

In a video promoting an Omaze charity fundraising effort, the guide polls the crowd on who they think will win when the two superheroes battle it out in Batman v Superman. When the initial responses lean towards Clark Kent’s alter ego, Affleck pops out of the vehicle to make his case for Batman. The visitors quickly change their tune and gather around for photos. “Are you real?” asks one of the surprised guests.

Affleck pokes fun at his rival — “Superman has a Subaru,” he jokes — and then heads out to the Warner Bros. lot to give an unsuspecting visitor a ride around the studio.

Superman’s been campaigning, too. Last month, Henry Cavill hung out with kids as part of the same charity initiative and tried to convince them to side with the Man of Steel. Fans of both superheroes have the opportunity to win a trip to the Batman v Sueprhero premiere with a donation to Omaze. The proceeds will benefit Eastern Congo Initiative, the SEED Project, and the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the charities chosen by Affleck, Cavill, and Jesse Eisenberg, who plays Lex Luthor in the film.

Batman v Superman opens March 25.
