Ariana Grande and the women of SNL perform ‘This Is Not A Feminist Song’

As Saturday Night Live’s host and musical guest this weekend, Ariana Grande debuted two new songs from her upcoming album Dangerous Woman, as well as showing off her impressions of pop classics like “I Will Always Love You” and “…Baby One More Time.” But one of the catchiest performances of the night came in a pre-taped music video Grande performed with the ladies of SNL: a poppy earworm called “This Is Not A Feminist Song.”

Grande and the cast headed to Coney Island to film a classic girl power pop anthem, complete with inspiring beachside shots and footage of Malala Yousafzai, Madeleine Albright, Maya Angelou, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, only to find that writing inclusive feminist lyrics is a lot harder than it looks.

“So instead of writing lyrics, here’s us running in the sand, and here’s a bunch of lens flares, and an old woman’s hands,” Grande sings.
