Amazon's annual Prime Day sale has come and gone, and if you're anything like us, so has that first July paycheck. But if you can't shake the urge to do more capitalism, you should probably get familiar with Amazon Assistant; it's a helpful web browser extension and the closest you'll get to Bezos himself doing the work for you.

Amazon Assistant allows you to compare Amazon's prices to those of a competitor, like Best Buy or Target. If you can't find the product you're looking for or you don't think its listed price is reasonable, you can set up alerts to "watch" deals and price changes. And if you find something in another corner of the Internet that you'd rather buy through Amazon (especially if you're taking advantage of perks like two-hour delivery), you can add it to your Wish List and get notifications about deals, pricing, and more.

The extension also improves user experience on the site by providing updates on orders, shortcuts to your most-visited pages, and easy access to Amazon's Deal of the Day.

The Amazon Assistant application can be downloaded on most browsers, including:

  • Mozilla Firefox 3.6 and higher

  • Google Chrome 38 and higher

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 and 11

All you need is an Amazon account. Happy shopping.
