Anne Hathaway Turns 33, But She'll Never Be as Cute as She Was Here at 5

Anne Hathaway can stare at us with those big brown eyes and bat those long lashes all she wants, but we will now never think she’s as cute as she was back when she was a wee one.

The Oscar winner turns 33 today and, to mark the occasion, posted a throwback photo from her 5th birthday on Instagram. Young Annie was all kinds of adorable with her thick bangs and locks styled with a headband. Outfitted in a blue and white dress (please tell us it’s Gunne Sax!), she’s slyly sampling the cake, which looks like a Duncan Hines box concoction, slightly uneven and overflowing with decorations including sprinkles, jelly beans, and a slew of candles.

The future star’s artwork can be seen in the background decorating the kitchen.

Maybe it’s because she was staring at all that sugar when she posted the pic to Instagram, but The Intern actress was feeling pretty sweet and sentimental. “#TBT to that time I turned 5,” she wrote. “I want to take a moment to thank you, my Instagram followers. I really didn’t know what to expect from opening myself up to social media, but I certainly wasn’t prepared for the outpouring of love and support I have been lucky enough to receive from you all (well, most of you). You filled my 32nd year with so much light, joy, and positivity, and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate it. I’ll close with some of my favorite words from an extremely wise man, words I hope guide me through 33 and beyond: ‘Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack, a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.’ Blessings and peace xx P.S. Happy Birthday Beth!!! #theysayitsmybirthday #leonardcohen #lovemyfollowers #taylorswift #whynot?"

It’s Cohen’s song (”Anthem”), but Swift also got a tag. Hathaway is a major fangirl of the 1989 singer, describing her as "magnificent” in an interview with Glamour U.K.

Social media is something Hathaway waded into slowly after all those Hathahaters bashed her on it after her Academy Award win in 2013. But we’d say she’s found her groove, especially if she keeps posting things like this.
