In a brutal note on Facebook, Sinead O’Connor wrote that she’d taken an overdose of pills Sunday morning and that she was waiting to die in a hotel in Ireland that she’d booked under a fake name. However, O’Connor’s music rep has confirmed to Yahoo Celebrity that she has been found and is safe.

“There is only so much any woman can be expected to bear,” O’Connor begins the letter which is still up on her verified page. (We will not be publishing the letter in full.) She then writes that her husband and children have been distant and disinterested in her since her hysterectomy in August.

O’Connor has four children; the youngest is 8 and the oldest is 28.

In 2007, O’Connor revealed on Oprah that she’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and that she’d previously attempted suicide on her 33rd birthday in 1999.

“When you admit that you are anything that could be mistakenly, or otherwise, perceived as ‘mentally ill’ you know that you are going to get treated like dirt so you don’t go tell anybody and that’s why people die,” O’Connor said last year of the stigma against mental illness.
