9 Awkward Melania Trump Inauguration Moments

While President Donald Trump might have wanted to focus on crowd sizes and television ratings following his inauguration at the 45th president - details of both, it's worth noting, he's gotten wrong - the internet had a few different ideas.

One particular theme to develop across responses to inauguration weekend was the #PoorMichelle #PoorMelania memes. There were quite a few of them, go figure! At least now critics might understand why Melania avoided Trump's campaign trail - she's clearly not having much fun with this whole first family politics business. Here's a round-up of some of her best ... err, worst moments.

1. When she got de-nied.

Who hasn't awkwardly attempted to high-five someone and found themselves completely dismissed? If Melania is looking for support, she should talk to talk to Camila Cabello.

2. When she couldn't keep smizing.

This moment quickly went viral, and left social media arguing over Melania's ~true~ feelings. Either way, everyone has given that same fake smile before ... just maybe not at their husband's inauguration.

3. And when she didn't want to hold hands.

Clearly this encounter is way more awkward for Trump. What more is there to say other than de-nied (déjà vu).

4. And also when she didn't want to kiss.

Maybe Melania just isn't that into PDA?!

5. When her husband forgot about her.

Clearly Trump was so eager to get into the White House he left something behind: his wife.

6. When she made Michelle question everything.

Look, a gift is a lovely gesture and all but timing, Melania! And seriously, what was in the box? Even The New York Times launched an investigation.

7. Literally just this moment.

Photos of the Trumps standing together versus the Obamas during the 45th president's inauguration quickly made the social media rounds. (However, photos from the 2009 inauguration revealed the Obamas appeared just as awkward at the prospect of taking over the White House and, you know, the country.)

8. Oh, and this dance.

This middle school style slow-dance opened the first couple up to analysis from body language experts trying to decipher the inner-workings of their relationship. In reality, Trump is likely an awful dancer. And lip-syncer.

A reminder: Melania has already escaped back to NYC and her Trump Tower penthouse. Wonder why?!
