Kelly Ripa turns 45 today, meaning the chipper, chatty, funny gal has been making people laugh for four and a half decades.

1. No, this is not a Halloween costume. While she’s known for her great getups to mark All Hallows’ Day on Live (Khaleesi, Christina Aguilera, Kim Kardashian), this actually isn’t one of them. We’ve loved Ripa since her soap opera days when she wore this Elvira wig and pasty makeup to play Hayley Vaughn on All My Children. Thankfully, she soon lost the wig — and ‘tude — and became one of our favorite characters.

2. She’s an admitted Madonna groupie. Kelly inhaled Madonna the first time they met — “like a weirdo” (her words), she sniffed her hair. Even though they’ve become friends (Kelly attended Madge’s b-day party over the summer), Kelly is still — quite delightfully — a Madonna superfan. “One of us is starstruck,” she captioned this shot from a concert in September. “Little did Madonna know about my death grip."

3. As a kid, she looked exactly how you imagine she would. It’s hard to pick a favorite thing about wee Kelly, so we’ll list a few: her pigtails, the way she’s like 3 and leaning on her mother like she’s a prop, and the polka dot/cat outfit being the epitome of the early '70s fashion. It was all very Small Wonder.

4. Her Vegas wedding photo. Kelly and hubby Mark Consuelos were involved onscreen (Hayley & Mateo forever!) before they became involved off. In 1996, the soap opera co-stars eloped in Las Vegas, keeping their nuptials a secret — at least for a little while. It took the mom of three 17 years to share their wedding photo publicly, which she did in 2013, and it was so worth it.

5. Kelly as Miley Cyrus. Yes, this is a Halloween costume. Like we said, she’s worn some great ones, but she nailed it in 2014 with her big finger and little buns. Though she could have used a few layers of white coating on her tongue. Or not.
