From $12,000 Shack to Palatial Family Ranch (and Twins!) - Inside Chip and Joanna's Most Ambitious Remodel Yet
Chip and Joanna Gaines have just completed their most dramatic makeover yet.
On the season finale of Fixer Upper, Michael Matsumoto, the executive producer of the hit HGTV series, and his wife, Jessie, are in the market for a house near Waco, Texas. The couple and their two children were living in Los Angeles, but decided it was time to find a place to settle down in the Lone Star state, nearer to the Gaineses. And who better to help than their coworkers?
In true Chip and Jo fashion, the property they were selling the Matsumotos on was in less than stellar shape. But with a price tag of $12,500 and the Gaineses’ promise that they could transform it into a dream home, the couple decided to take a leap of faith with the extreme fixer upper.
Their risky bet (on a very shaky foundation) definitely paid off. The Gaineses completely remodeled what can only be described as a shack, into a farmhouse-style dream, complete with an alfresco dining area, shiplap-covered kitchen, a family-friendly living room and a yard the Michael described on instagram as the one his children “always wanted.”

As if their story wasn’t sweet enough, upon seeing the completely reimagined house, the Masumotos revealed even more exciting news - they had twin babies on the way!

According to Magnolia’s official Instagram, Michael and Jessie’s “sweet little ones” were born on March 17th at 4:57 p.m. and 4:58 p.m. just a few days before the episode aired.
“They are so loved and adored by our whole team,” the post says. “Congratulations to the whole family!”
Cue the waterworks.
