When Harry Met Harry: A Prince and a Pop Star Talk Hair

Last Friday evening, two of our favorite English Harrys met for the first time in recorded history. At the Royal Variety Performance at Royal Albert Hall in London, 31-year-old Prince Harry finally met 21-year-old One Direction frontman Harry Styles. One Direction, with a newly released album, was performing at the show, along with Little Mix, Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Kacey Musgrvaes, The Corrs, and Josh Groban. Styles’ long gleaming brunette locks rivaled those of Kate Middleton’s, while the prince’s vibrant ginger hair was accentuated by a scruffy beard.

According to People, His Royal Highness asked Styles, “When was the last time you had a hair cut?“ US Weekly reports that Styles replied, “I’m not planning on it right now.” The media obviously had a meltdown over two of Britain’s most famous Harrys — known for their good looks and impeccable grooming — meeting, and reported clamored to ask Styles if he’d try to grow a beard like the prince after the gala. “No, no, I’m not growing any facial hair. At some point I’ll be cutting it [the hair] for charity,” Styles said.
Before the musical performance before, British comedian Jack Whitehall gave our favorite ginger royal a few jabs — about his red hair. As reported by People, Whitehall said, "I wasn’t belittling anything you did in the Army by the way — that was amazing. What you did in Afghanistan…a ginger guy stepping out in that heat. Wow. First time you get a Victoria Cross for just stepping out of the shade.” Whitehall later told People, “Harry said it’s the first and last time he’ll laugh at me.” Here’s hoping His Royal Highness makes an upcoming appearance in a One Direction video or show. #SQUAD
