What’s better than carrying flowers down the aisle? Turning your hair into a living bouquet. Russian hairstylist Georgiy Kot has nailed the ultimate bridal hairstyle. In a stunning new video, Kot creates a picture-perfect flower using only clips, a tinge of temporary dye, and a whole lot of hairspray.
The mesmerizing video, which already has over 38,000 views on Instagram, shows Kot gathering hair into a bouffant twist to create the flower’s base. Then he teases and combs the remainder of the ponytail into petals. Using hairspray, he coaxes four segments of hair into individual petals. The pièce de résistance is a bit of black hair dye added to long, thin segments of hair in the middle of the petals to create lifelike stamens. It’s pure artistry, and it just so happens to be on a head.
Kot shares his architectural hairstyles on Instagram, where he has more than 1 million followers. He shows off his styles on both wigs and actual clients. He’s created a swirling bouquet of roses, a Beauty and the Beast-worthy rose chignon, a showstopping rose headpiece, and more. Last year, he gained a following for his hat made entirely out of hair.
He’s dubbed his designs “haute couture hairstyles,” a prestigious designation that nonetheless feels right on point. “Many people will think why do we need haute couture hairstyles,” he explains on Instagram. “To my mind: every Hairdresser must face something high wether it’s a hairstyle, haircolour or a haircut. As the feeling of sophisticated forms allow to think creatively and highly! As it characterizes spiritual status and professional level.”
It’s fair to say his creations are on a whole other spiritual and professional level, and we’d like to be transported there immediately. Preferably with a rose in our hair.
