The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show airs on CBS Monday, December 5, but this morning on Instagram, lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux gave a backstage look at the superlush Victoria's Secret Angel lashes he created for the show. The spectacle was filmed at the the Grand Palais in Paris last night and Pecheux posted a video on Instagram of himself applying Max Factor Epic Lash Mascara to model Valery Kaufman's lashes. (BTW the makeup artists went through 50 tubes of the stuff while prepping the models for the show.) Not only is the video kind of mesmerizing, it's also a free mascara master class. Even Insta-famous makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic commented on the post with a couple applause emojis.

Let us break down the basics for you. First, Pecheux wiggled the wand against the roots of Kaufman's lashes before swiping upward to the tips. He did three passes of this. Seems pretty standard, right? Well, Pecheux didn't stop with the Victoria's Secret Angel lashes there.

Next, the makeup artist rolled the wand downward along the tops of Kaufman's lashes to help curl and define. He followed this up with a couple more standard wipes and wiggles from the roots to the tips. To finish up the look, Pecheux pressed the tip of the brush—which has a rounded, bulbous end spiked with extra bristles, not unlike the medieval mace weapons—randomly against the model's lashes to help separate and break up any clumps. Oh, and Pecheux only used one dip of mascara for all of these steps.
