What DJ Harley Viera-Newton Can't Live Without

The model, DJ and fashion girl about town shows us how she shapes up to take her schedule by storm.

When Harley Viera-Newton isn’t busy designing a capsule collection with Diane von Furstenberg, DJ-ing the sickest A-lister-filled parties, or posing for the camera herself, she makes time to hit the gym—however reluctantly. “Sometimes I’ll wake up and want to work out right away, while other days I have to drag myself there, and I’ll complain the whole way over,” says Viera-Newton, who first got serious about exercise when she moved to New York City for college. These days, Viera-Newton works out four times a week—one Pilates class, one spin class, and twice a week with a personal trainer. No one ever said crop top-ready shape comes easy.

Top 40 jams

“I tend to listen to Top 40 when I exercise. Anything that’s really high energy gets me pumped up. The other day, my friend and I were spinning to Beyonce’s ‘Drunk In Love’ and it was amazing!”

Pre-and post-workout fuel

“I try to eat a little bit of protein and a few carbs as fuel—I can’t work out on an empty stomach! I’ve found that yogurt or oatmeal work best for me. After a workout, I feel so great that I tend to crave really healthy foods. My go-to is a quinoa salad with avocado and tofu or chicken.”

Kiehl’s moisturizer

“I don’t wear makeup when I work out—what’s the point? It all comes off, anyways. But afterwards, I’ll always use Kiehls moisturizer and Clinique eye cream.”

Nike+ Running App

“If I’m traveling or can’t get to my favorite classes, I’ll go for a run with the Nike+ running app. It helps you chart how far you’ve run and how many calories you’ve burned. Awesome!”
