Throughout Fashion Month, Pat McGrath dropped hints on her Instagram account about an upcoming product from her Labs. On the spring 2017 Versace runway, she added silver paint at the inner corners of the models’ eyes, leading us to believe that it was a new eyeshadow.
But McGrath threw us for a loop when she teased her “prism of desire” backstage at Maison Margiela with these futuristic chrome lips.
The makeup artist extraordinaire has finally revealed what she’s been keeping on the hush-hush. Metalmorphosis 005 are four metallics — Silver, Bronze, Copper, and Gold (from the now cult 001 launch) — that complete McGrath’s “sisterhood of precious metals.” Each individual kit ($60) contains a pigment, cream shadow, black dual-ended eyeliner, and Mehron mixing liquid. There’s also an Everything kit, which contains every product and will cost you $165.
While she refers to it as “the ultimate eye kit that goes from ready-to-wear to couture,” the possibilities are endless when experimenting with these intensely pigmented shadows. McGrath showed beauty editors at a launch event in New York City on Monday three stunning ways to wear Metalmorphosis 005 — a slick copper cat eye with a subtle shimmer on the Cupid’s bow; molten gold lip color; and silver-and-black winged liner.
The metallics can be applied with your fingers or makeup brushes. For a 3D effect, she recommends applying the pigment on top of the cream. Or layering with lip balm or gloss. And after hearing many pleas for products that really last, McGrath made sure to create a dual-ended eyeliner marker ($24) that she says is “long-wearing, ultra shiny, and super black.”
