This Video Sums Up the 2016 Beauty Trends That Need to Go Away

Well, it’s that time of year again! Beauty vlogger and highlight queen Jackie Aina (hey, girl, hey!) has released her annual “Trends We’re Ditching” video. And let me just say that she definitely brings the shade in this review of the 2016 beauty trends we can’t wait to leave behind.

After posting a “roast us” callout on her Instagram account, Jackie initially received more than 4,000 comments (FYI: it’s now more than 8,000), with followers sounding off on trends they are tired of seeing flood their social media feeds. From faux freckles to excessive nose highlighting to crazy DIY hacks, I love that Jackie isn’t ashamed to admit that she’s guilty of doing some of these very things and will probably continue to do them in 2017.

But I couldn’t help let out a resounding “Amen” when Jackie revealed that she is “tired of seeing people tan and bleach themselves into a different race.”

Or when she called out makeup companies that believe they are inclusive with “just ONE obligatory shade of chocolate” in their collection. “Y’all got eggshell, y’all got yogurt, y’all got ivory, y’all got ring light, y’all got pearl” says Jackie. “What you’re not going to do is Fifth Harmony your way out of making deep cocoa, chocolate, ebony, rich, and all these other colors on the spectrum.”
