This iPhone Trick Will Instantly Give You a Better Night’s Sleep

There’s a sneaky addition that’s part of the new iOS 9.3 update that might change your life.

Well, maybe how much you sleep, which for some of us is totally life-changing.

Apple has added a new function called Night Shift, which switches the lighting on your iPhone and iPad from bright blue to warmer tones, and it can really make a difference.

Research has repeatedly shown that bright blue light in the evening can affect your circadian rhythm and make it harder to fall asleep — and if you’re staring at the blue light of your phone or tablet before bed (who isn’t?), it can impact your quality of sleep. And with warmer light, you squint won’t squint as much when you check out your screens in the dark, which might help you avoid a few wrinkles.

You can set this up after you update to iOS 9.3 (groan, we know). Go into Settings and click on Display & Brightness. You’ll see a new button called Night Shift.

Click on it, and set how warm you’d like it to be. (We went all-the-way warm.) Your screen will show the changing color as you adjust. Then go into Scheduled to set what time you’d like to turn on the warmer light and when you’d like it to turn off.

Last tip: If you go to bed early, you can switch on Manually Enable Until Tomorrow, and you’ll go straight to the warm function.

I bet you’re feeling better rested already.
