Right now, Dubai isn’t exactly known as a major beauty city. But Shiffa, a doctor-developed brand based there, aims to change that. This high-end line of skin and body care uses natural plant ingredients—Indian neem, Chilean rosehip oil, and white tea extract among them—to combat common complexion woes such as dryness, fine lines, and acne. The idea is to pack a concentrated amount of active ingredients into each product, favoring effectiveness over the expense of formulation. (Which partly explains why Shiffa’s price point sits firmly in the realm of luxury.) Although Shiffa has a variety of products, the Healing Balm ($107) has developed something of a cult following overseas. The rich balm melts into an oil which can be gently pressed into the skin to calm and soothe inflamed, irritated, or otherwise unhappy skin. Use it at night on winter-worn cheeks and lips and wake up to softer, pampered skin. If this is a glimpse into Dubai’s beauty brilliance, we’re definitely adding this emirate to our must-visit list.
