Teyana Taylor Is Inspiring Everyone to Go to the Gym

Gyms are packed and people are sweating it out, thanks to Teyana Taylor.

Ever since the release of Kanye West’s new music video “Fade,” women around the country have become so inspired by the 25-year-old singer and dancer’s ultrafit body — which she proudly displayed in a crop top and high-waisted underwear just eight months after giving birth to her first child — that they’re heading to workout classes and taking to social media to thank the new mom.

However, this overnight exercise craze caused by Taylor’s sought-after physique isn’t a surprising reaction.

“Whether someone is a celebrity or not, we’re inspired and motivated by a person if they look good and they’re being successful at something,” Stacy Kaiser, a licensed psychotherapist, relationship expert, and author of How to Be a Grown Up: The Ten Secret Skills Everyone Needs to Know, tells Yahoo Beauty. “In this case, Teyana just had a baby and looks amazing, so that’s considered being a success.”

And the famous factor simply adds to the hype. “When it comes to celebrities, we admire them and want to be like them,” Kaiser says. “We hold then up on a pedestal, and so they are elevated in our society.”

Kaiser adds that many onlookers will also assume that taking on the lifestyle behaviors of the stars who stroll down the red carpet will somehow bring them closer to greatness.

“There’s a whole phenomenon that people like to feel close to the spotlight, and one way to do that is to be like ‘them’ and do like ‘them’,” Kaiser adds. “People will think they have the magic secret now, ‘If it can work for her, it can work for me.’”

Kaiser feels the Teyana-inspired fitness craze is a positive movement. “It’s wonderful, as long as you’re realistic and don’t expect results at the same speed — or the same exact results,” she cautions. “Keep in mind there’s genetics on her side, along with the fact that she’s been dancing forever, which makes her able to get that body quicker and easier. But overall, it’s a great trend.”
