Taylor Swift goes Old Hollywood — and brunette — in her “Wildest Dreams” music video, which just premiered at the MTV VMAs. In the video, which features steamy scenes with Scott Eastwood, Swift channels Elizabeth Taylor with a variety of beauty looks, from dark brunette pin curls and bright red lips, to a chic polka dot headscarf and wavy retro curls.

The country-turned-pop star has always been known for her America’s Sweetheart blonde tresses, but true to her motivations in the past year, Swift’s been making a break with her old image. In the video, she portrays a classic Hollywood star, from filming in far away settings to attending a premiere on the red carpet — only to see her beau kissing another starlet.

While we’d love for Swift to have a starring role on the big screen someday, this music video is a cinematic treasure in itself — she even poses with a live lion. (Eastwood, meet your match.) This year, she is nominated eight times for her “Bad Blood” video, and while her #Squad is making major headlines tonight, we think it’s her brunette locks that deserve a Moonman.
