Russian Hairstylist Slays His Clients’ Strands With an Axe, Literally

Just in case you are wondering how to really slay your next celebrity-inspired haircut (and you are very, very brave), you may want to consider turning to Russian hairstylist Daniil Istomin who apparently has gained popularity for creating choppy haircuts — not with traditional scissors — with an axe.

Based in the city of Novosibirsk, Istomin has his clients lie down while he hacks away at their strands. The ending result: cool-girl-next-door piecey layered looks. RT reports, “the idea came to him as he was trying ‘to come up with some tricks.'” He also shared, “I just took some basics of geometry, combined it with my profession, and shifted the angles into slightly different variations.”

The New York Post noted that he has been tagged with the name “the Siberian Sweeney Todd,” which is a reference the legend of the murderous barber of Fleet Street (also an extremely creepy film and musical currently in revival). If you’re familiar with the story, you might be a little reluctant to make an appointment with Istomin.

Longing for a new killer cut? A visit to Istomin just might be your golden opportunity for ultimate slay-age (as the kids like to say). Or you might end up in a pie, we’re not really sure.
