Reviving Dull Skin

Everybody wants luminous skin. But after a cold winter, your complexion can start to look dull and sallow. Both freezing temperatures and aging create slow cell-turnover causing a build up of dead skin cells. You can get that radiance back pretty easily with a combination of skincare and makeup. Here’s how:

  • Wake up the texture of your skin by exfoliating. If you have sensitive skin, skip the more abrasive, granular scrubs. Go with an exfoliating mask that contains AHAs or glycolic acid to reveal fresh skin in as little as 10 minutes.

  • After exfoliating, pat a rich moisturizer onto your face to create a dewy look. You can switch to a richer cream moisturizer, try a face oil, or do a combination of serum and cream moisturizer.

  • Make sure your skin is hydrated from the inside out. To plump skin, drink water all day long and eat hydrating foods like cucumber, melons, and tomatoes.

  • If you do use foundation, go with a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer which will even out your skin with a natural finish.

  • If your complexion still looks washed out, try using bronzer on cheeks, and forehead. You can also try a light self-tanner. If you only want a little extra warmth, try mixing self tanner with your regular moisturizer.

  • Add a pop of brighter cream blush on your cheeks for a more vibrant look. At night, you can place highlighter high on the cheekbone for some shimmer.
