As we move into a new year, there’s a strong focus on physical well-being—but mental well-being is just as important, and can affect your physical health as well. There is a line in Susanna Kaysen’s famous book-gone-movie, Girl, Interrupted, that describes mental illness as “a communication problem between interpreters one and two.” Mental health issues have such a stigma worldwide that affected individuals, including those who don’t display outward signs of mental illness, may not have the support, communication, education, and treatment that they really need. More 450 million people worldwide suffer from mild to serious mental health issues—from post-traumatic stress to depression to bipolar disorder—and a disproportionate number of them are women.

Last year Philosophy committed to donating 1% of all sales to their Hope & Grace Initiative to benefit mental health organizations in the United States. Now they’ve partnered up with Natasha Bedingfield for the release of her new song, “Hope,” available on iTunes today. 20% of the proceeds of the sale of the song will go towards this important initiative. You can listen to it here.

We’re honored to share exclusive footage from Bedingfield and Philosophy about the song and partnership—may it give you some hope, and a new 2015 anthem to belt out.
