You don't need a doctor to tell you that a twin pregnancy baby bump will (likely) be significantly larger than a singleton pregnancy bump. But just how much of a difference there is in size will naturally vary from woman to woman - all pregnant ladies carry differently. (PSA: That means it's super uncool to make comments about a woman's bump being larger or smaller than expected. "Whoa, you got twins in there?!" = something virtually no expecting mom probably cares to hear.)
But YouTube lifestyle and mommy vlogger Natalie Bennett, who has carried twins and is currently pregnant with just one baby (a reverse Beyoncé, if you will), recently shared footage of her two bumps at the same stage of pregnancy - and people are freaking TF out over the size difference.
Bennett is already a mom to twin toddler boys and is currently expecting a baby girl (who is due "any day now," at last check). As part of a pregnancy update video she posted at the end of March, the soon-to-be mom of three shared a side-by-side video comparison of herself pregnant with twins at 36 weeks versus the same stage in her current pregnancy.
Here's a gif of the side-by-side (twin pregnancy on the left), with Bennett wearing the exact same shirt in both videos:
And here's another of the vlogger's comparisons of her bump sizes at 27 weeks:
In the video, Bennett spoke about how her experience of the two pregnancies compared, though she made it clear that comparing the two was like "apples to oranges." As you might've guessed, the Pacific Northwest-based 24-year-old found her current pregnancy to be far easier (and, more importantly, more comfortable) than her first pregnancy. "I had a huge torpedo belly sticking out like a freaking shelf," Bennett explained of her first bump. "It was so heavy." While carrying twins, Bennett explained that her skin literally hurt as it stretched and she even developed PUPPP rash (a rash accompanied by moderate to severe itching occurring in approximately 1 out of every 150 pregnancies, most commonly in first-time moms and those carrying multiples) in the last part of her twin pregnancy. Now, since her skin has already stretched about as far as it physically can, her new bump is basically a breeze to deal with - despite the fact that she's chasing around toddlers in the midst of the terrible twos while 9 months pregnant.
I'm guessing Bennett is counting her lucky stars that her pregnancies weren't reversed. My skin hurts just looking at that twin 36-week bump video.
