Yesterday, makeup artist Pat McGrath created a range of statement beauty looks for the Givenchy fall 2015 men’s fashion show in Paris. From rich metallic smoky eyes and paint splattered complexions to a seashell embellished mask, McGrath transformed models—including Joan Smalls, Doutzen Kroes, and Grace Mahary—into works of art for the runway.

In a video on McGrath’s Instagram, she shows one of the male models with a painted on glitter and crystal skull, a look she pointed out took 8 hours to perfect. For hair, stylist Luigi Murenu kept hair slick for both the men and women on the runway. He played with models’ “baby hairs,” slicking them down against the forehead and along the side of the face, while also giving the women on the runway long braided ponytails.

After a season full of no-makeup makeup on the runway, this comes as a breath of fresh air as we prepare for spring 2015 fashion week to take place in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Here’s to hoping McGrath, and others, continue to push the envelope next season.
