Noah Cyrus made a big entrance on the music scene last fall with "Make Me (Cry)," her heartbreaking debut that racked up over 70 million hits on YouTube. Now, the 17-year-old breakout has a new bop for your playlists. She recently dropped "Stay Together," a friends'-night-out anthem from her upcoming debut album, NC-17. Seventeen talked to the up-and-comer to get the scoop behind her sophomore single.
"It's all about going out and being like, let's do whatever we want and have a night full of unforgettable things," says Noah, who also co-wrote the tune. "Not worrying about mistakes you're going to make."
It's a natural fit for prom night-the catchy chant-like melody will make you want to sing along at the top of your lungs whether you're getting ready, hitting the dance floor, or hanging out in the limo after you've kicked your shoes off. Noah, who didn't make it to her prom ("I'm not the dance type," she admits. "If I can have a party in my Lululemon leggings, I'll do that!"), but she thinks the track is perfect for making end-of-the-school year memories. "There's prom, there's graduation…this might be your last year with your friends," she points out. "You might hear this song and think about the last Sunday you had with them, and then play it all week."
"Stay Together" got the seal of approval early on from Noah's own friends-she says they were already making requests for it way before they knew it would be a single. "We've always known it was a special song," she says. It also got the thumbs-up from another VIP: Noah's superstar big sis. "Miley heard 'Stay Together' before it came out," Noah explains. "She loved it!"
