Naomi Campbell Does Her Metallic Makeup Exactly How You’d Guess (Using a Mirrored Clutch)

After Pat McGrath’s first beauty product, Gold 001 eye shadow pigment, sold out almost instantly and catapulted her namesake brand, Pat McGrath Labs, into the stratosphere of cult beauty brands, the celebrity makeup artist knew it was only a matter of time before she brought the masses what they wanted: a whole range of supershiny shades.

Tomorrow Pat McGrath launches an entire line of her most pigmented, most metallic and most mesmerizing makeup kits yet, appropriately named Metalmorphosis 005, just in time for the holiday season. In addition to the original gold tone, the kits (which include a cream shadow, pigment, double ended liner and mixing liquid) also come in silver, bronze and copper shades.

Stars and designers alike can’t get enough of the kit already it’s already been used by the makeup artist to create looks on the runways of Versace and Maison Margiela this fall. “It’s the ultimate eye kit that goes from ready-to-wear all the way to couture,” McGrath said.

Supermodel and longtime friend of McGrath, Naomi Campbell, is already obsessed, too. The star got an early peek at the Metalmorphosis kit, and shared a video of herself at McGrath’s house creating the ultimate metallic look (that we’re dying to recreate!) with Copper.

“There is no else quite like Naomi Campbell: she’s impeccable, iconic and inspirational, the most divine definition of the word ‘muse’,” McGrath told PeopleStyle of the iconic model. “ always pushes creativity to the next level.”

To test out the metallic makeup trend and get a look like Campbell’s, McGrath says you only need to apply “just a touch” of product to get the effect. “A tiny bit on the inner corners a tiny bit mixed into a smoky eye is so easy,” she said. “Thin layers, thin applications small amounts in the right places is the way to go.”

For an intense shine, McGrath uses the cream shadow first, then wets the powder pigment and places it on top. “What’s great about everything is you can layer. You can do a gold eye with a silver wing and just really play,” she said. “I think that women want to be able to play without having to trek to a store to ask, ‘Do my eyes look best this way?'”

But don’t think a smoky metallic eye is the only thing this kit works for; McGrath says you can experiment by creating everything from a glittery eye liner to a sparkling lipstick with the pigment and cream products. Backstage at Maison Margiela’s S/S 17 show, the artist used the Silver 005 kit to create a mesmerizing metallic lip. “It was really impactful,” McGrath said.

The four-piece Metalmorphosis 005 kits are available starting tomorrow for $60 each, or you can invest in the Everything Kit (where you get the entire collection) for $165. And if Campbell could give you one more tip, we bet she’d tell you to get ready to move fast — if past products are any indication, these are going to sell out in seconds.
