For the March 2016 issue of Allure from new editor in chief Michelle Lee (by way of Nylon), Naomi Campbell and Bella Hadid appear on dual covers to celebrate the new wave of model culture, from ‘90s supermodels like 45-year-old Campbell making a comeback to up-and-coming models like 19-year-old Bella Hadid with millions of social media followers. The two models were photographed by legendary fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier in his signature relaxed, intimate style — Hadid smirking with tousled hair and Campbell gazing straight at the camera.

“From what I understand, the era of supermodels is now in again. But this is a different time. It’s a different work ethic,” Campbell told Allure in the magazine, on newsstands February 26. Hadid spoke about the differences between her sister, Gigi, and herself: “I just have a darker personality. And my sister [Gigi] being blonde and me being brunette, it’s a good separation. I put a blonde wig on and think it would be fun to go back, but I’m happy with my hair. Blondes are so angelic. My sister can get away with anything.”

Notably, both Hadid and Campbell have starred in Balmain campaigns recently (Campbell most recently with Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer), despite their 26 year age difference. “I’m grateful for my timing and the way it worked,” Campbell told Allure. “I wouldn’t want to change it for the world.”
