Step aside, Gigi and Bella Hadid — there’s a new girl everyone in the modeling world is after: 8-year-old Nariyana, an albino beauty from Yakutia in Siberia.
Albinism is an inherited genetic condition that reduces the amount of melanin pigment formed in the skin, hair, and/or eyes.
The striking girl has porcelain skin, long, straight white hair, piercing blue eyes, and adorably round cheeks. She comes from a family of Yakuts, who ethnically have much darker features. According to the Siberian Times, everyone else in her family has dark hair, and Nariyana is the first albino in her family.
Obviously, modeling and advertising agents are already knocking on her door, and we don’t blame them. While Nariyana wants to try modeling, her mother, Elena, told the Siberian Times, “Not yet, she’s too young.”
“We have already got many offers from modeling and advertising agencies, but I don’t want her to work yet,” she said. “When she grows up, she’ll choose who she wants to be for herself,” Elena promised. But it seems Nariyana already has a pretty good idea. “When I ask her now, she says she wants to be a model.”
It seems she got bitten by the modeling bug after posing for photographer Vadim Rufov, who said she’s the most “unusual” person he’s ever met. “She is incredibly artistic, and she spent two hours posing for me.”
In the professional photos, Nariyana can be seen dressed as a snow queen, her eyes piercing even from afar; touching her cheek in a close-up; and smizing behind flowers. It’s clear the girl’s got skills. In fact, we can already picture her strutting down the runway, completely stealing the show.
In another image taken by Rufov, Nariyana poses with her older sister, and the differences — and similarities — are undeniable.
And when she’s not posing, she’s drawing, dancing or hamming it up for Instagram. And she’s not lacking in the style department either. In one photo, she’s wearing a gorgeous flower crown, and in another she’s looking super hipster in a beanie, aviator sunglasses, skinny jeans, and pink snow boots.
We have a feeling we’ll be seeing this little Snow White in magazines in the future. Of course, she wouldn’t be the first albino beauty to take the modeling world by storm. Just a few weeks ago, images surfaced of Lara and Mara Bawar, 11-year-old twins from São Paulo, Brazil. The gorgeous girls rose to fame after being photographed by São Paulo-based photographer Vinicius Terranova and have since worked with Nike, Insanis, and Bazaar Kids. And albino beauty Diandra Forrest is already a mainstay on the runway, and has been outspoken about her condition — how she was bullied for her appearance as a kid but has come to embrace her beauty in adulthood.
We love that these ladies are bringing more color — or, technically, less — to the modeling industry.
