This model is leading the unibrow movement

At a first glance, Sophia Hadjipanteli looks like your typical model. She’s blonde, beautiful, and has great eyebrows.

But look a little closer, and you’ll see she has a full on unibrow, and she’s close to replacing Frida Kahlo as the icon for strong-browed women.

Sophia’s unique look has racked up almost 60,000 followers on Instagram. And though many praise her for showing a different view of beauty, there are a few who love to tell the model how unattractive a monobrow really is.

Still, for every “ugly’ comment, Sophia is aiming to hit back, and kickstarted the #UnibrowMovement: a hashtag that she hopes will “normalize [things] that society pressures us to hide or fix. I want to encourage tolerance of others, acceptance of differences — and most importantly, be proud of who you are.”

If you’re wondering why Sophia’s eyebrows are so dark, here’s the secret: they’re tinted. The model got so tired of having to fill in her naturally blonde brows that she tinted them, accidentally turning them black.

Fortunately, she was over the moon with the look, and now regularly tints them whenever her blonde starts showing through.

“I am not really doing this to show people that they have to like [my unibrow]; I am more so doing it to show people that they can get on with their lives by having a preference,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

“I personally think my face looks better this way,” she added. “Others disagree, and that’s totally cool. I am not trying to get anyone on the unibrow bandwagon. If I like this, just let me like this.”

She continued, “I want to be sure that I am not defined by the way I look right now. I look at [my unibrow] like it’s winged eyeliner or red lipstick. In five years, I might look back and think, ‘That was a cool phase!’ But until people start to accept others for this specific feature on their face, I won’t feel ready to move on from it.”
