We usually associate heavy lower liner with our rebellious middle-school days. We smeared black kohl pencil across our lower waterlines, and just like that — with no blending or balance — we were ready to greet the day (full of angst). But Margot Robbie‘s latest look for the Marie Claire Image Maker Awards gave it new life.
Robbie presented her makeup artist, Pati Dubroff, with the Icon Award, and it’s no surprise, considering the trendsetting looks Dubroff has created for Robbie and other celebs such as Natalie Portman, Kim Kardashian, and Emma Watson. This look, reviving a style we never thought would come back, is no exception.
Robbie’s glowing skin brightens the dark eye makeup, with a peachy flush on the apples of her cheeks and a subtle golden contour to structure her face. She kept her upper lids soft and neutral using light taupe shadow and minimal makeup in the creases to avoid sinking her eyes. A dark nude lip ties in with the eyeshadow to brighten her smile and make the look more fresh and less throwback Avril Lavigne.
Robbie’s caramel-and-honey balayage highlights transition perfectly for the winter. With light pieces surrounding her face and warm, dark roots, the actress’s cold-weather blond helps her pull off an otherwise dark look impeccably.
