Lupita Nyong’o Goes for a Major Purple ‘Facial’ and Confuses Everyone
Ever hear of a purple head-to-shoulder beauty treatment? Neither have we. Which leads us to believe that Lupita Nyong’o is prepping for a movie, not getting “more than a facial,” according to her latest Instagram post.
The actress posted a shot of herself on Feb. 16 covered from the top of her head to her chest in thick purple goop. The caption read, “More than a facial…” More indeed.

We’ve heard of crazy beauty treatments — chin fat reductions, blood spas, Nutella for hair dye, to name a few — but this looks a lot more like she got slimed on Nickelodeon or is prepping for an Avatar-esque role.
However, her upcoming projects include Black Panther, for which it seems she won’t be needing any crazy transformation, and Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi, which, according to IMDb, is in postproduction already.
Her fans are just as confused as we are. “Omg that’s a hell of a facial mask grrl!!!!! Lololl,” one follower wrote. “Funny…is this for an upcoming movie?????” asked another. One commenter joked, “*me trying to obtain perfect skin.”
One commenter made a good point: “This is for a wax museum.” However, according to Beyoncé in 2012, there is no purple goop involved in wax statue creation. “R U in the next Avatar?” someone asked. “How was the exfoliation though?” another joked.
A commenter named @rabbid_liptick, who according to her Instagram is a makeup artist, claimed, “it’s for a bust casting so they can make prosthetics.”
OK, so that explains it. But this comment is for sure the most accurate description of the image: “STUNNING even covered in goop!”
