Get the Look: Gabrielle Union at the ESPY Awards
Attending Wednesday night’s ESPY awards with basketballer husband Dwyane Wade, actress Gabrielle Union (Clovers in the atmosphere!) showed off an edgy half-up-half-down do on the red carpet. It was the perfect complement to her waxed lace dress.
Celebrity hairstylist Larry Sims gave us a breakdown of her cool look (and you can get all the products he used at a drugstore or Walmart!). We love his tip for how to select where to divide the hair for this updo.
“First, start by adding in 18-inch clip-in extensions (Union was rocking a straight lob the day before!) for volume and length,” says Sims. “Next, prep hair with göt2b Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm, and flat-iron hair in sections starting from the nape of the neck working toward the top for a smooth sleek texture.”
“Continue by parting the top of the hair into a small semicircle using the arch of the eyebrows for reference,” Sims explains. “Gather this top section, and place into a small pony with added volume. Then, says Sims, “use a jumbo curling barrel to create a slight curl at the ends of the hair, and brush edges with Smooth ’N Shine Instant Edge Smoothing Pomade.”
