Lea Michele Reveals Her Grandmother Has Died, as She Honors Her with New Tattoo

Lea Michele revealed on Monday that her grandmother recently died.

In an Instagram pic she posted on Monday, the actress showed a new tattoo, honoring her grandmother. The snap shows off a small cup of coffee on the former Glee star's ring finger.

"I lost my beautiful grandma this week… She wasn't your typical grandma," Michele, 29, wrote. "She gave me my first cup of coffee when I was 8 years old. She said something inappropriate to every boyfriend I've ever had.

"She never made pie or knit me a sweater. But she was my grandma and I loved her. More than anything… I love you Grandma. @prospect_tattoos Bronx NY."

Michele has been vocal about her family's importance in her life, telling PEOPLE in 2013 that they were to thank for giving her strength following the death of then boyfriend Cory Monteith.

"My family has experience a lot of loss in their life and they've been so wonderful in being there for me and giving me the strength I need," she said.
