She’s a celebrity known for her strict diet — avoiding white flour and refined wheat and sugar — her workout regime, and for dropping 20 pounds just two months after giving birth. But Kristin Cavallari wants the world to know that even though she limits her own diet, that doesn’t mean she deprives her young sons.

Commenters were quick to criticize the former Laguna Beach reality star and wife of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler when she posted a seemingly harmless picture of her boys — Camden Jack, 3½, and Jaxon Wyatt, 2, celebrating the Fourth of July on the beach. People were reacting to the visible vertebrae along the boys’ spines.

Even though we’re not in the states, were still celebrating ???? hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th! #MyGuys

“Seeing pictures of your boys and how they look is a bit shocking to see! I know you cook healthy, but to see the bones just doesn’t seem normal, sorry!” said one user. “I understand you live a very strict dietary lifestyle, but these children are very obviously nutritionally deficient,” wrote another.

The judgmental comments are now deleted and the users blocked, but Cavallari decided to take things a step further: She responded to her critics in a sarcastic open message. “Yep, I starve my children. Just blocked the most people I’ve ever blocked in my entire life. Happy 4th hahaha,” she wrote.

Other people were supportive — especially after Cavallari’s response. “Chin up buttercup — jealousy brings out the worst in people,” wrote @ritadeeva. “My 7 yo is lean but perfectly healthy too and I sympathise with [your] criticisms!” wrote a compassionate @all.the.heart.eyes.

Cavallari has come under fire for her parenting style before. Vocally opposed to vaccines, she has had to defend her stance on the controversial issue. According to ABC News, in 2014, she announced that she didn’t vaccinate either of her sons, and didn’t plan to because she’s afraid vaccines cause autism. “At the end of the day, I’m just a mom. I’m trying to make the best decision for my kid,” she explained to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live.

And that decision clearly involves not force-feeding kids who are probably naturally thin and eating just fine.
