Kendall Jenner's Met Gala Hair & Makeup Sends Off Sexy Marilyn Monroe Vibes

Kendall Jenner usually keeps things classic when it comes to her makeup, but for this year’s Met Gala it looks like she chose to shake things up a bit — and the results were quite stunning.

“Kendall had been thinking about her makeup for a week or so, but then last night an episode of the show aired and she got an amazing response from this red lip she wearing – that’s when she decided to do a bold, red lip using the shade she created with Estee Lauder,” said Jenner’s Met Gala makeup artist Mary Phillips in a statement. Some of Phillips’ key products included Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Stay-in-Place Makeup 2.5 for skin, Estee Lauder The Brow Multi-Tasker in Light Brunette, and Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Restless – a limited-edition Kendall Jenner shade. The overall look was very reminiscent of the late Marilyn Monroe‘s signature vamp beauty.

A tad different from Monroe’s traditional blond, curly hairstyle, the 21-year-old model wore her brunette shag as a side-parted ‘do. Hairstylist and Ouai Haircare Founder Jen Atkin, prepped the hair with Ouai Wave Spray and Bumble and Bumble Bb.Gel gel to get Jenner’s wet look. She then diffused with Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer diffuser attachment on the high heat and low airflow setting. To add slight wave, Atkin used Paul Mitchell Neuro Style 1-inch Styling Iron and she finished with a spritz of Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Finishing Spray. Pro tip: apply a little eyebrow powder along the hairline for the perfect photo finish.

La Perla‘s creative director Julia Haart said in a statement that Jenner’s barely-there ensemble was inspired Rei Kawakubo’s concept of “un-fabric” and her ability to create movement out of seemingly immobile materials.

Jenner has been wearing some of her sexiest looks yet, and while some people couldn’t get enough of her glamorous glow, others couldn’t help but stay glued to her butt cheeks.
