J.Lo's Secret Diet Weapon: This 39-Calorie Kale Salad

We mentioned BodyLab, a new women’s health and fitness brand founded by J.Lo, a few weeks ago. The gist: You can sign up for the site for free and get workouts and recipes, as well as shopping for some of J.Lo’s new supplements and protein powders.

Among those recipes is one particular low-cal salad that J.Lo loves. And not only does it have cheese on it, but it’s only 39 calories! Sound too good to be true? The only magic here is portion control. Try it out and see what all the fuss is about (and, maybe, wake up the next day with a bod like J.Lo?).

Kale Salad With Queso
Servings: 6
1 bunch kale, large stems removed and leaves finely chopped
½ cup toasted pumpkin seeds
2 oz. crumbled queso
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 large shallot, minced
Salt

By breaking up the recipe into 6 portions, you’ll ensure you don’t overeat (after all, kale is not meant to be a calorie bomb of a meal). Try this as a side salad with fish for dinner, or as a light lunch with some grilled chicken on top. Not your thing?
