With her huge YouTube following of more than 7.3 million, anyone could bet that Nikkie of NikkieTutorials knows a thing or two about beauty products. The best part about the makeup maven’s lending her thoughts on what’s new and trending is that her fans can rely on her to give honest opinions, as opposed to fluff that leaves you confused and still wondering how well the products actually work.

This was such the case when Nikkie reviewed Kim Kardashian’s KKW Beauty Powder Contour & Highlight Kit, which is set to officially release on Aug. 22. Luckily for Nikkie, she had a chance to get her hands on the buzzy new palette before everyone else as she reveals on YouTube. She opens the video by sharing that she actually got to play with the shades on Kim Kardashian’s face for an upcoming video that is still being reviewed by Kardashian and her team.

Throughout the video, Nikkie is really transparent about the palette and says that after seeing the fairest kit for the first time, she pointed out to Kardashian that the bronzer in the lightest kit available was too warm for her skin tone. She explained: “Trust it from me, your bronzer is too warm. So I gave her a couple of recommendations on which bronzers work for my skin tone, and she said that she would look into it and that she was so thankful for that advice, that maybe she was going to change the powder.”

Nikkie went on to say Kardashian didn’t take her advice and that the bronzer is going to be too warm for a lot of fair-skinned people. She did admit that she hadn’t tried it on her face yet, but from past experience, Nikkie knows that warm bronzers like that “look like trash” on her complexion. Once she does move forward with applying the bronzer along her cheeks, it proves to be way too warm for her liking, but Nikkie does suggest that it could be better used at the creases of her eyes.

Later in the video, Nikkie does try her hand at some of the other shades, and she’s even impressed by a few. After applying an illuminating highlighter, she says, “I love that the highlight is nice and light enough for my fair skin tone. It blinds, it beams, it does everything a good highlighter should be doing, and I’m obsessed.”

Nikkie made sure to give her fans the good, the bad, and the straight-up truth about the KKW Beauty Powder Contour & Highlight Kit, which got a lot of people praising her honesty. Olusola Deinde left a comment under the video that read, “I love how she properly assessed the product opposed to just saying a load of exaggerated positivity.” Another appreciative viewer wrote, “Only YouTuber who isn’t blowing smoke up Kim’s a** just because they filmed a video.”
