Gisele Bündchen is in for the shock of her life.

In an exclusive clip of National Geographic’s Years of Living Dangerously, the supermodel is visibly shaken when she learns that the cattle wondering the southern Amazon grounds are responsible for 65 percent of its deforestation.

To help Bündchen better understand the deforestation problem, Paulo Adario from Greenpeace takes her on a helicopter ride for a bird’s eye view. However, the beauty of the forest only lasts for so long, as patches of empty land become visible.

“The cattle rancher arrives and then he starts cutting the remaining trees, burns everything to put cattle,” Adario tells Bündchen.

“Imagine the destruction of this beautiful forest to produce cattle,” he adds.

Then, comes the shocker: “You know when you eat a burger,” says Adario, “you don’t realize that your burger is from rainforest destruction.”

Adding, “We already lost 20 percent of the Amazon.”

Attempting to hold back tears, Bündchen becomes overwhelmed with emotions.

Bündchen’s episode of Years of Living Dangerously airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on National Geographic.
