New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and on the Fall 2017 runways we are noticing modern takes on bold beauty looks from the pasts. An eye-opening trend that’s already blowing up: babydoll lashes. This lash style is reminiscent of the the fabulous flutters rocked by ’60s style icons such as legendary singer Diana Ross and supermodel Twiggy.

From the edgy add-ons at Jeremy Scott to the clumps of mascara spotted on models at Tadashi Shoji, there are loads of larger-than-life lashes everywhere.

Makeup artist Kabuki for MAC Cosmetics created a beauty moment for Jeremy Scott’s Fall show that was certainly one for the books. The concept behind the look was “part flower child, part spooky (but cute) doll.” Some models also had gold teardrops painted on their faces to accentuate the overall eye makeup.

Kabuki cut individual lashes from MAC’s 7 Lash set into pieces and applied them to the lower lash line. The longer pieces were placed near middle of the eye, while the smaller lashes were placed at the inner and outer corners.

Backstage at LRS New York, there were lots of gorgeous, glitter-filled bottom lashes. Makeup artist Erin Parsons for Maybelline New York applied silver craft-store glitter to the bottom lash line with a clean mascara wand and lash glue. A stroke of Maybelline’s The Colossal Big Shot Mascara was used to coat the top of each lash. Pro tip: Clean up any glitter fallout with Scotch Tape.

Backstage at Cushnie et Ochs, there was a softer, subdued version of the babydoll lash trend. The inspiration behind the show had everything to do with highlighting the urban yet casual woman who possesses a sophisticated look. Makeup artist Gato for Maybelline New York made sure to use several coats of mascara on the top and bottom lashes. He also smudged in black eyeliner to create more of a messy effect.

Models walked the runway at Tadashi Shoji wearing thick bottom lashes with a hint of pink glitter. Makeup artist Pep Gay revealed on Instagram that his key products for creating the look were all from the Fall/Winter 2017 MAC Cosmetics collection. His arsenal of essentials included the brand’s new Bold and Bad Lash Mascara, Eyeliner Roller Wheel on a Roll Back, and MAC Pro Glitter.
