Contributing to the trend of the glamorous and gilded showing off their lives without makeup, Drew Barrymore posted a message on social media this week aimed to inspire. Posing with her crew of friends, the actress posted on Instagram a message that few can argue with, whatever your thoughts may be on the makeup-free trend.
The message highlights friendship, trust, and making time to spend together:
“hold onto those you love and climb a mountain together. The women in my life are doers. That can be anything from life, work and physical capability. Zest if you will. I follow my friends. And when I am most in need, I hold on tighter. But it is when they need me… I know I have done something right. To earn their trust. Love your fiends. Share kindness. Hold onto moments and most of all… MAKE MORE PLANS!!!!!!!!!”
Along with Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz also posed happily makeup-free in the image.
The message appeared to have resonated with followers. At the time of this writing there were over 200,000 Likes, and over 2,000 comments.
One user, daisykearl agreed with the sentiments, stating: “You are nothing without your girls/tribe/wives, the family we make for ourselves.”
Celebrities and notables showing up in public makeup-free is certainly not a new phenomenon but it is growing in frequency and becoming more and more acceptable. The latest in occurrences even included former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton giving a speech this week with no makeup.
