Copy This Red Carpet Trend: Glowing Skin at the Oscars

This year’s Oscars beauty looks were about as tame as they come, with nude lips, smoky eyes, and casual hair dominating. But there were bright moments on Sunday night’s red carpet: the stars themselves. Skin was dewy and fresh — as cheery and youthful as the nominated movies were dark and heavy. Here’s how the stars got their glow, and how you can get yours too.

Kate Winslet’s skin was the perfect level of dewy (she even shined while she teared up over Leo’s win), thanks to a regimen of microcurrent facials, a creamy base, and some serious illuminator. To duplicate the look, reach for a tinted moisturizer and highlighter (we like Benefit’s classic High Beam complexion enhancer and Milk’s new hydrating Highlighter).

If Lady Gaga was glowing on the red carpet before the awards, she was radiating actual light beams onstage as she belted out, “Til It Happens To You.” Behind the Oscar-nominated singer’s look was a mix of Sisley Paris products: Radiant Glow Express, Eye Contour Mask and L’Integral Face Cream.

The only thing brighter than Michael B. Jordan’s smile last night was his skin — this actor shines. Between training to play a boxer and joining the football team on Friday Night Lights (Texas forever), we have a hunch the Creed star’s killer fitness keeps his blood pumping and his skin looking fresh. Plus, he’s apparently a fan of Ursa Major’s all-natural face balm.

Julianne Moore was radiant last night, and for good reason: Celebrity esthetician Joanna Vargas prepped her with microcurrent and radio-frequency facials to tighten and brighten, plus an oxygen-rich serum. Can’t afford the lineup? Try Moore’s everyday obsession: face oil. The Vinter’s Daughter blends oils and botanicals into a luxe, pricey mix (technically a serum), while Garnier Fructis’ Clean + Nourishing Cleansing Oil adds oil to your routine on the cheap.

That light blue dress may not have won Cate Blanchett much style praise, but it did make her bright, poreless skin look extra ice queen. Her go-to last night and always? SK-II. Makeup artist Jeannie Lobell used SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence, as well as two new products from the R.N.A. line: Power Essence and Power Cream.
