If you’ve never read Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s books before, chances are you heard her as a sound bite on Beyoncé’s ‘***Flawless.’ As well as a brilliant novelist, the Nigerian writer is also known for her thought-provoking lectures on culture and feminism.
But now Adichie is pursuing something news: She’s been named the new face of Boots No7 beauty.
Boots officially announced the move on Tuesday, and we’re totally onboard. Because the acclaimed writer has long been an out-and-proud beauty and makeup lover.
“I love makeup and its wonderful possibilities for temporary transformation. And I also love my face after I wash it all off,” she said in a statement.
“There is something exquisitely enjoyable about seeing yourself with a self-made new look. And for me that look is deeply personal. It isn’t about what is in fashion or what the rules are supposed to be. It’s about what I like.
“What makes me want to smile when I look in the mirror. What makes me feel slightly better on a dull day. What makes me comfortable.”
According to Vogue, the campaign will launch on TV, online, in print, and in outdoor media on October 21.
