“I always look at [Kim] and I think, ‘you are a beauty icon,’” said Tilbury at a recent launch event for her new line. Describing Kardashian West’s custom “Kim K.W.” shade as a “nude [that] has a little bit of a retro pink,” Tilbury revealed one of the inspirations behind it was supermodel Kate Moss. “[Kim’s] favorite color before this one was “ Nude Kate,” [which is] Kate’s lip color. [So] I was like, I want to something that … goes back to all her beauty icons [and] that has that vintage feel.” The star’s reaction to the finished shade? “She loves it — so that’s been amazing,” said Tilbury, who’s deemed the mother of two “the queen of the nude lip.”

Kardashian West wasn’t the only star to be inspired by one of Tilbury’s past star-studded lip collaborations. “The Hot Lips collection came to me because I had created a lipstick for Kate Moss, Penélope Cruz, Victoria Beckham and Sienna Miller. And [people] were like, ‘well hold on, why haven’t I got a lipstick?’ It happened super organically,” she said. Below, the scoop on some more of our other faves from the brand new line.

Kate Bosworth’s “Bosworth Beauty” The actress doesn’t shy away from bold lip colors, but for her namesake shade, a matte finish, she chose a “1950s kind of retro, vintage, candy pink,” explained Tilbury. “When I think about Kate, she’s one of those celebrities that looks great on the red carpet and at Coachella, so I wanted to capture that.”

“Miranda
“Miranda

Miranda Kerr’s “Miranda May” The word “May” is actually the supermodel’s middle name, and the shade, a blend of coral and pink, was inspired by her “fresh and glamorous” feel. “It’s a bit like a sunset on Bondi Beach,” said Tilbury.

Salma Hayek’s “Secret Salma” Even the actress, who has her own beauty brand, couldn’t resist collaborating with the iconic pro. Tilbury said her plum rose shade was created to capture the actress’ “sensuality.”

Cindy Crawford, Nicole Kidman, Emily Ratajkowski and Liv Tyler were among the makeup artist’s other co-creators.

And Tilbury is making sure her glamorous line gives back. During the first two months that the Hot Lips collection is on shelves, two dollars from the sale of each $38 lipstick (as well as Tilbury’s previously released shades with Beckham, Cruz, Miller and Moss) will be donated to Women for Women International.
