Thorne is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club’s SMART Girls program which focuses on health, fitness, and self-esteem for girls ages 8 to 17. “I’m not afraid to be myself, but I did not always feel that way,” Thorne said in a statement. “When I first started out acting I tried so hard to please everyone around me. Everyone wanted me to be something different. With the support of my family and friends, they helped me realize that being me is all I could be. They taught me to love myself—a gift that I will always be thankful for.”
