It’s refreshing AF to see a model like Barbie Ferreira dominating the industry and representing so hard for all the curvy girls out there. Barbie’s been doing the damn thing as a model for AerieREAL, ASOS, i-Dmagazine, and more for a minute now. She most recently walked down the runway for Addition Elle and appeared in Rachel Antonoff’s presentation during New York Fashion Week.
This 19-year-old model is outspoken and unapologetic about how much she despises the word "flattering" and is not a big fan of "plus-size" because they isolate curvier women and trick them into feeling like their size is irregular, just because they aren’t the average-sized model seen on the runways or in other campaigns.
This is why Missguided’s new fall collection is so dope: On Monday, the fashion retailer released a line full of sexy bodycon dresses, off-the-shoulder tops, and duster jackets - all available in sizes 12 to 20. What’s even more dope? Barbie is the face of the new campaign and all of her photos showing off the sexy, skin-tight garments are completely unretouched.
Yaaaaaas! *Two snaps*.
In the campaign’s press release, the brand stated: "Plus isn’t the word, we are here to empower girls to dress however they want, regardless of size."
IMO, Barbie’s no-bullshit attitude paired with her killer bod is a perfect representation for this collection.
"I wanted to wear whatever the fuck I wanted to wear," Barbie said in one of the campaign videos when discussing her past style choices. "If someone tells me I couldn’t because of my size, I just feel like it’s super irrelevant. It’s clothes, wear what you think is cute. [They’re] not meant to make you look skinny."
"There’s absolutely no boundaries in dressing for any size, ever," Barbie went on to say in the campaign video.
Barbie is straight-up slaying on all levels.
