Buff Nails—Without the Damage

In spite of the world’s love affair with all things nail polish, I prefer my nails clean, clear, and buffed—the latter of which delivers just the right amount of shine. It’s neither blinding like a topcoat, nor dull, but it turns out it is bad for your nails. “Too much buffing can lead to even more dry nails that split,” says celebrity manicurist Jenna Hipp, who worked closely with RGB’s Gina Carney to develop Liquid Buff ($20), a not-too-shiny vitamin fortified clear coat that actually makes your nails healthier. “One coat delivers hydration and nutrition,” Hipp says. The best part is, it’s so subtle you don’t ever have to take it off, just brush on a new coat whenever your nails start to look dull.
