The simple pleasure of opening an untouched package of makeup is something beauty lovers everywhere understand. But until videos of people destroying makeup began to go viral, how products look after they’re used (or ruined) wasn’t really talked about.

Now more than 9,500 people are in on a conversation about beauty products that have “hit the pan” (i.e., the garbage) — a fetish that a subredddit group has tapped into. The group, PanPorn, was created three years ago by Reddit user deadpanorama, who seemingly understood the satisfaction of looking at used-up makeup.

The forum is just part of a huge beauty community that lives on Reddit, where people post photos, share experiences, and ask for advice on a number of makeup-related issues. However, this particular discussion board seems to be one of a kind.

While some of the postings are in celebration of finally using up a beloved product, others are more nostalgic reflections on the memories associated with them. But the most useful part about the group is finding out what to purchase next — something that reflects the idea of YouTube’s popular “Product Empties” videos.

So if you’re looking to memorialize a beloved finished makeup item or find your next till-pan-do-you-part product — or just find some weird but deep satisfaction in looking at photos of used-up makeup — you’ve found it.
