While announcing the nominees for Best TV Drama Actress at the 2017 Golden Globes, Jon Hamm paused to note a burgeoning beauty trend among the male attendees: the ubiquitous growth of facial hair. Hamm went on to say that he can’t wait to see the forthcoming documentary of the evening, which is bound to be entitled Beard Parade 2017. And upon further investigation, the actor had his finger on the aesthetic pulse of the night. Tom Hiddleston framed his now signature grin with a charming bit of overgrowth, while Chrises Hemsworth and Pine each embraced the double-take inducing power of a full-blown beard. During his acceptance speech, Ryan Gosling quipped that he is often mistaken for Ryan Reynolds, a case of mistaken identity we imagine would be easily avoidable if more above-the-neck surface area was visible in both camps. And a silvered Jeff Bridges stuck to his usual aesthetic guns, proving that, far from an underdone trend, a well-tended beard has major staying power. Here, the stars of the 2017 Beard Parade.
