The Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha or JMM formally announced their alliance in Jharkhand on Friday. The Congress will contest 10 seats while the JMM will contest four. The agreement offers the post of the Chief Minister to JMM leader Hemant Soren. Speaking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Hemant Soren announced the alliance and said that the Congress has assured them of support and the two parties will now form a coalition government in the state.
