It’s official folks– Lamborghini has finally taken the wraps off the Huracán, its replacement for the Gallardo. This news comes as a bit of an early Christmas present, and in addition to being one epic looking Lambo, it will bring a new level of technology and performance to the Raging Bull.
While we don’t know EVERYTHING about the Huracán, here are ten things that we do know, so you can impress other car folks at holiday parties.
1. It Has Serious Power
Just because it’s the Baby Lambo (if you could call it that), doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice performance. The 5.2-liter V10 makes 610 horsepower at 8,250 rpm (that’s 40 more horsepower than the Gallardo’s V10 at its best, seen above). With a curb weight of 3,134, it has a ratio of 5.13 pounds per horsepower. A seven-speed dual clutch transmission sends power to all-wheel drive, yielding a 0-62 mph time of 3.2 seconds on its way to a top speed just over 200 mph.
2. It has big shoes to fill
The Huracán is the replacement for the Gallardo, which was the “entry-level” Lambo, slotted beneath the Murcielago then the Aventador. By the conclusion of its ten-year production run, it became the best selling Lamborghini of all time, moving 14,002 units.
3. It’s in a Serious Pack of Performance Contemporaries
The 3.2-second 0-62 mph time puts in some pretty ridiculous company. It is faster than the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, SRT Viper, and Ferrari 458 Spider. The list of cars that are as fast or faster than the Hurácan is a who’s who of performance royalty, including the McLaren F1, Ferrari Enzo, Nissan GT-R, Bugatti Veyron, Porsche 918 Spyder, and – of course– the “Big Brother” Lamborghini Aventador.
4. It’s Green…For a Supercar
The V10 engine features Stop-Start technology and with the mapping for the 7-speed gearbox, the Huracán fuel consumption is lowered to 12.5 liters per 100km. It complies with the EU6 regulations. That’s pretty close to 19 MPG here in the States. Not bad for an animal like this.
5. Lamborghini is Pimping the Thing Out, Hard
The Huracán will debut to the unwashed masses at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but before that it will be featured at 130 events in 60 different cities around the world. It is safe to say that Lamborghini is getting the car in front of perspective buyers well before unworthy members of the media see it in Geneva.

7. “This is the story of a Huracán“
Despite what some forum troll told you, Huracán is not Hurricane. As has been the case with many other Lambos, the name comes from the world of bullfighting: “The fighting bull Huracán of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed was known for his outstanding courage and strong sense of attack. He fought in Alicante in August 1879, showing his unrelenting character and remaining defiant and invincible, thus entering into the legend of fighting bulls’ history.” Jesus, does this brand ever take a break from being badass?
8. LEDs and TFT
Lamborghini designed the Gallardo successor to look like a baby Aventador, including incorporating the unique LED headlight design. Inside, the cabin features a TFT digital instrument panel. It will make for a stunning cabin aesthetic that is also customizable to provide information most important to the driver as he’s screaming along approaching 200 mph.
9. They Made a Pretty Great Fake Documentary, with Many Doughnuts

10. It Is the Most Advanced Vehicle that Lamborghini has Built
The V10 engine features something called “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata,” which is a combination of direct and indirect injection to maximize power and efficiency. The Huracán also features “Lamborghini Dynamic Steering” which is a variable ratio electronic steering system. The steering ratio can feedback can be altered based on road conditions and driving modes. In short, this is the most advanced Raging Bull ever from the folks at Sant’Agata Bolognese.
The one essential element that we do not know about this new Italian supercar? The price.
