This $753,000 Aston Martin DB5-Inspired Sports Car Is Coming To America

David Brown Automotive, based in the United Kingdom, brought its first sports car to market recently in Europe. That car, the Speedback GT, has been well received according to the automaker, and now it plans to take over America.

At this year's The Quail gathering during Pebble Beach Concours week in August, DBA will place its $753,000 Speedback GT on display. It also promises to allow some test drives for media and people with deep pockets (the two don't typically go together).

You'll be forgiven for thinking that the Speedback GT looks a little like an Aston Martin DB5, and in fact that is what inspired the design. But it isn't based on an Aston. The chassis used is from a Jaguar XK and the engine is a 5.0 liter supercharged V-8 from the XKR; at 510 hp, that engine truly is a beauty.

The rest of the car is bespoke, even down to the bench seat on the tailgate. The car is said to hit 60 mph in around 4.6 seconds, but as one guesses just by looking at it, that speed arrives in utter luxury.

For $753,000, you'd expect it would.
